- माउंट एवेरेस्ट की चोटी पर पहुँचने वाली पहली महिला बचेंद्री पाल उत्तराखंड से ही हैं।
- भारत का सबसे बड़ा बाँध टिहरी बाँध उत्तराखंड के टिहरी ज़िले में स्थित है। यह भागीरथी नदी पर बना हुवा है।
- दुनिया का सबसे ऊँचा शिव मंदिर तुंगनाथ उत्तराखंड के रुद्रप्रयाग ज़िले में स्थित है। यह समुंद्र तल से १२०७३ फ़ीट की ऊंचाई पर स्थित है। माना जाता है यह मंदिर १००० साल से भी अधिक पुराना है।
- जिम कॉर्बेट पार्क जो की भारत का सबसे पुराना पार्क है उत्तराखंड के नैनीताल ज़िले में स्थित है। जिसकी स्थापना सन १९३६ में हुई थी।
- भारत का सबसे पहला कृषि विश्वविद्यालय गोविन्द बल्लभपन्त यूनिवर्सिटी ऑफ़ एग्रीकल्चर एंड टेक्नोलॉजी उत्तराखंड में स्थित है।
- सन १९७० में पेड़ों की सुरक्षा के लिए चलाया गया चिपको आंदोलन उत्तराखंड के महिलाओं ने ही किया था।
- फूलों की घाटी भी उत्तराखंड में ही है। यह चमोली ग़ढवाल में स्थित है।
- उत्तराखंड को वीरों की भूमि भी कहा जाता है। यहाँ सेनाओं के दो प्रमुख रेजिमेंट, ग़ढवाल राइफल और कुमाऊँ रेजिमेंट है।
- पहला परमवीर चक्र पाने वाला सिपाही मेजर सोमनाथ शर्मा थे, जिनका जन्म उत्तराखंड में ही हुआ था।
- भारत के लिए पहला व्यक्तिगत स्वर्ण पदक जीतने वाले अभिनव बिंद्रा का जन्म उत्तराखंड के देहरादून में हुआ था।
- भारत की प्रमुख नदियाँ गंगा और यमुना का उदगम स्थल गंगोत्री और यमुनोत्री उत्तराखंड में ही है।
- ७८१६ मीटर की ऊंचाई के साथ भारत का दूसरा सबसे ऊँचा बड़ा पर्वत नंदा देवी उत्तराखंड में ही है। यह भी उत्तरखंड के चमोली ज़िले में है।
- उत्तराखंड भारत का एक मात्र ऐसा राज्य है जहाँ प्रमुख भाषा संस्कृत है तथा यहाँ हिंदी, कुमाँऊनी और गढ़वाली भाषा भी बोली जाती है।
- चार धामों में से बद्रीनाथ धाम भी उत्तरखंड में है। यमुनोत्री गंगोत्री और केदारनाथ भी यहीं हैं।
