Uttarakhand: Devon ki Bhoomi, Devbhoomi

1. Uttarakhand was formed by the Uttar Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2000 with the bifurcation of erstwhile Uttar Pradesh on 9 November 2000. Uttarakhand is also known as Devbhumi.

2. Dehradun is the interim capital of Uttarakhand. The town of Gairsain is envisaged as the state’s new capital.

3. There are 13 districts in Uttarakhand. They are Almora, Bageshwar, Champawat, Nainital, Pithoragarh, Udhamsingh Nagar, Dehradun, Haridwar, Pauri Garhwal, Uttarkasi, Chamoli, Tehri Garhwal and Rudraprayag.

4. Four new districts are proposed in Uttarakhand: Didihat, Kotdwar, Ranikhet and Yamunotri.

5. There are two mandals in Uttarakhand: Garhwal Mandal and Kumaon Mandal.

6. There are four Dhams of Uttarakhand: Kedarnath, Badrinath, Yamunotri and Gangotri.

अल्मोड़ा का इतिहास: उत्तराखंड का हिल स्टेशन

अल्मोड़ा उत्तराखंड राज्य के कुमाऊँ मण्डल का एक जिला है। अगर अल्मोड़ा को Ariel view से देखेंगे तो उसका सम्पूर्ण view घोड़े के खुर के समान दिखाई देता है। महस 35,513 जनसंख्या को अपने में समाये अल्मोड़ा का इतिहास ज्यादा पुराना नहीं है। इतिहासकारों के दृश्टिकोण से जाने तो आज हम पौराणिक इतिहास के साथ आधुनिक इतिहास को भी जानेंगे।

अल्मोड़ा का इतिहास : पौराणिक इतिहास के अनुसार

पौराणिक इतिहास के अनुसार अल्मोड़ा का सर्वप्रथम जिक्र महाभारत काल में मिलता है। जब माँ भगवती ने सुम्भ और निसुम्भ दानवों का वध इसी छेत्र में किया था। दिलचस्प बात तो यह है, जिस पर्वत पर अल्मोड़ा स्थित है उसे प्रसिद्ध हिन्दू महाकाव्य में मनसाकंद नाम से वर्णित किया गया है।

अल्मोड़ा का इतिहास : आधुनिक इतिहास के अनुसार

आधुनिक इतिहास के अनुसार अल्मोड़ा पर कब्ज़ा अनेकों राजाओं द्वारा समय-समय पर हुआ है। यहाँ सर्वप्रथम एक चीनी तीर्थ यात्री आया था। जिसने इस जगह का वर्णन करके लोगों को बताया था। साल था सन 600 यानि की 7वीं सताब्दी की, बाद में कत्यूरी राजाओं ने यहाँ पर को शासन किया। 16वीं सताब्दी यानि की सन 1500 के मध्य तक यहाँ चंद वंश का शासन रहा और अपनी राजधानी उन्होंने चम्पावत से अल्मोड़ा तक स्थान्तरित करदी थी। उस समय अल्मोड़ा को आलमनगर या फिर राजपुर कहा जाता था।

सन 1744 के समय अल्मोड़ा को फिर से कब्ज़ा किया गया। क्यूँकि अली मुहम्मद खान रोहिल्ला ने इसे चंद वंश से जीत लिया था। लेकिन पहाड़ में रहने की कठनाई को देखते हुए उन्होंने इसे रोहिल्ला प्रखमी को 3लाख के रिस्वत में दे दिया था। सन 1790 में फिर से अल्मोड़ा पर गोरखाओं द्वारा कब्ज़ा किया गया। आज जितने भी नेपाल के लोग अल्मोड़ा में रहते हैं वे गोरखा लोगों के ही पैतृक हैं। उन्होंने यहाँ 24 साल तक शासन किया।

अल्मोड़ा का इतिहास : अंग्रेजी लोगों का आवागमन

अब बात करते हैं अल्मोड़ा पर अंग्रेजी लोगों का कब आवागमन हुवा ? सन 1815 में अंग्रेजी लोगों का अल्मोड़ा में आवागमन हुआ। उस समय उन्हें नैनीताल के बारे में पता नहीं था। अंग्रेजों ने यहाँ काफी विकास भी किया। क्यूंकि उस समय अल्मोड़ा घने जंगलों से युक्त एक ठंडी जलवायु से घिरा हुआ छेत्र था। तब अंग्रेजों ने यहाँ भवन निर्माण, शिक्षा, कला और प्रबंध की व्यवस्ता करी।

अगर इतिहास के पन्नो का रुख करे तो अल्मोड़ा 1947 में पिथौरागढ़ का हिस्सा हुआ करता था। सन 1960 में यह फिर बागेश्वर का हिस्सा हुआ और 1997 से अब तक अल्मोड़ा एक अलग जिला बनके उत्तराखंड के नक़्शे में उभर के आया।

अल्मोड़ा भी एक दर्शनीय पर्यटक स्थल में आता है। हालांकि नैनीताल से इसकी लोकप्रियता काम है लेकिन उत्तरी पूर्व के सैलानी अल्मोड़ा घूमने आते हैं। शून्य बिंदु से आप त्रिसूल पर्वत और नंदा देवी पर्वत आदि देख सकते हैं। आप यहाँ से जागेश्वर मंदिर भी जा सकते हो जो की 12 ज्योतिर्लिंगों में से एक है। कसार देवी मंदिर में आप जा सकते हो जो की अल्मोड़ा से 5 किमी दूर है। साथ ही में आप कटारमल सूर्य मंदिर में भी जा सकते हो जो की 800 साल पुराना मंदिर है। अल्मोड़ा में आप चितइ मंदिर, बिनसर महादेव, दुनागिरि मंदिर, द्वाराहाट, रानीखेत और अल्मोड़ा की प्रसिद्ध लाल बाजार में घूम सकते हो। अल्मोड़ा की सिक्षा व्यवस्ता कुमाऊँ के इतिहास में सबसे प्रबल माना जाता है। एस. एस. जे. कैंपस यहाँ का विश्वविद्यालय है।

Almora is a district in the Kumaon division of the state of Uttarakhand. If you see Almora from Ariel view then his entire view looks like a horse’s hoof. History of Almora: According to Mythological History

According to Mythological history, the first mention of Almora is found in the Mahabharata period. When Mother Bhagwati killed Sumbha and Nisumbha Danavas in this area. Interestingly, the mountain on which Almora is situated is described in the famous Hindu epic by the name Mansakanda.

History of Almora: According to Modern History

According to modern history, Almora has been occupied by many kings from time to time. The first Chinese pilgrim came here. Who described this place to the people. The year was 600 CE i.e. 7th century, later Katyuri kings ruled here. The Chand dynasty ruled here till the mid-1500s of the 16th century, and they shifted their capital from Champawat to Almora. At that time Almora was called Alamnagar or Rajpur.

In 1744, Almora was recaptured, because Ali Muhammad Khan Rohilla won it from the Chand dynasty. But seeing the difficulty of living in the mountain, he gave it to the Rohilla Prakhmi for 3 lakh rupees. Almora was again captured in 1790 by Gorkhas. All the people of Nepal who live in Almora today are the ancestors of the Gorkha people. He ruled here for 24 years.

History of Almora: English People Visit Almora

Now let’s talk about when did the English people visit Almora? In 1815, English people arrived in Almora. At that time he did not know about Nainital. The British also made considerable development here, because at that time Almora was an area surrounded by cold climate with dense forests. Then the British made arrangements for building, education, art and management here.

If we look at the pages of history, Almora used to be a part of Pithoragarh in 1947. In 1960, it again became part of Bageshwar and from 1997 till now Almora emerged as a separate district in the map of Uttarakhand.

History of Almora: Almora is a tourist place

Almora also comes in a scenic tourist spot. Although its popularity from Nainital is useful, but the tourists from the North East come to visit Almora. From zero point, you can see Trisul Parvat and Nanda Devi Parvat etc. You can also visit the Jageshwar temple from here, which is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas. You can visit the Kasar Devi temple which is 5 km from Almora. Also you can visit Katarmal Sun Temple, which is an 800 year old temple. In Almora you can visit Chitai Temple, Binsar Mahadev, Dunagiri Temple, Dwarahat, Ranikhet and the famous Lal Bazar of Almora. The education system of Almora is considered to be the strongest in the history of Kumaon. S.S.J. campus is the university of Almora.
