Kedarnath Uttarakhand Temple
Kedarnath temple is located in the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand and is a famous temple for Hindus. Kedarnath temple in the lap of the Himalayan Mountains is one of the Char Dham and Panch Kedar along with being included in the twelve jyotirlingas. Due to the unfavorable climate here, this temple is open for a visit only between April and November.
When was the Kedarnath Uttarakhand temple built?
It is said that this temple is made in Katyuri style and that it was built by the grandson of Pandavas Maharaja Janamejaya. Aadi Shankaracharya got this temple renovated. Kedarnath temple is situated at an altitude of 3562m above sea level, It is believed to be built 1000 years ago. There is a mausoleum of Shankaracharya on the backside of the temple. The construction of this temple by Rahul Sankratayan is said to be between the 10th and 12th centuries. This temple is a wonderful and attractive specimen of architecture. The sharp rock in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple is worshiped in the form of Lord Shiva in the form of Sadashiv.
Badrinath Uttarakhand Temple
Badrinath Temple is situated on the banks of river Alaknanda in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. This Hindu temple is dedicated to Vishnu. This place is one of the most sacred places mentioned in this religion Char Dham, whose construction is found in the 7th- 8th century. This temple is situated at an altitude of 3133m above sea level. Due to the unfavourable climate here, the temple remains open for a limited period of 6 months of the year (late April to early November).
The height of this temple is 15m in ancient style. It is situated in the north direction at a distance of 214 km from Rishikesh. At present, work is going on on schemes like Char Dham Mahamarg to facilitate traffic to the temple. It is one of the busy pilgrimage centres of India.
Who built the Badrinath Uttarakhand temple?
Badrinath Temple was established as a pilgrimage site by Adi Shankaracharya in the ninth century. There is also a belief that Shankaracharya lived at this place for 6 years (614-620). During his residence at this place, he stayed in Badrinath for six months and then in Kedarnath for the rest of the year.
Which temple is at the highest in Uttarakhand?
Tungnath Temple is the tallest Shiva temple in India with a height of 3680m. This temple is situated on the Tungnath mountain in the Rudraprayag district. This temple is believed to be 1000 years old and here Lord Shiva is worshipped as one of the Panch Kedar.
